This era Mariah is so easy to fall in love with. Reminds me why I had a mega crush on her throughout the entire decade of the 90s.

I notice in some spots Mariah looks like she is taking a beat to swallow, she's trying to get moisture into her mouth. I have worked on studio shows with a live audience, they pump the air conditioning high in order to keep the audience alert and reactive in a dark room like that. Also to keep the any heat from the stage lights reaching them. All that cold air would dry a singers mouth out some with a regular song but Mariah is singing an Olympic event here so she needs to keep swallowing to keep some moisture in her mouth and throat.

Ppl say her vocal prime was in the late 90s.. I disagree.. It was during the first 5,6 years of her career. After that her voice got brittle and her nodules flared up which created those vocal breaks and cracks- which is a cool effect, especially in songs like against all odds, but health wise her voice was declining.

So many superlatives about this performance, for real..but I LOVE the way she says "there will be tomorrow" at 2:49. It's so assertive, emotionally; and so absolutely beautiful and perfect, musically.
